We are seeking to establish a pool of Education Support Teachers for permanent and fixed term, full-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year and up to the end of Term 1, 2026. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Role

Suitable applicants will ideally use explicit teaching strategies and exhibit effective classroom management skills to enhance student learning and wellbeing. Applicants who are flexible, have strong interpersonal and communication skills, a commitment to professional learning and a high-level of participation in collaborative team planning will be highly regarded. They will plan, program and assess using an integrated curriculum, differentiated to meet individual student needs. Suitable applicants will also ideally have highly effective teaching practices, an ability to self-reflect and a willingness to seek constant improvement in their own practice. We are seeking teachers who are hardworking and knowledgeable about a range of disabilities and the implementation of strategies to support and enhance individual development in all areas. Teachers in an education support environment positively manage a team of Education Assistants to create a safe and supportive learning environment for students. They engage with and contribute to the school community and work collaboratively with families, therapists, and outside agencies to improve student outcomes.

Mobility appointments

Mobility appointments for permanent metropolitan and south west teachers: Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position. At the cessation of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers can elect to return to their substantive role, or transfer permanently into this school. Find out if you are eligible on IKON.

* Note that south west teachers are not eligible to move to another south west school under this trial.


Eligibility

To work with us, you must:

* hold an eligible teacher qualification and registration
* be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment
* apply for a WA Working with Children Check before you start; and
* consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.
