Position Title: Plant Maintenance & Warehouse Operator
Location: Collie, WA
Reports To: General Manager / Operations Manager
Position Overview
The Plant, Maintenance & Warehouse Operator is responsible for overseeing the safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation of the plant and warehouse. This includes managing production equipment, coordinating warehouse and inventory operations, supervising preventive and corrective maintenance programs, and operating machinery when required. The role requires strict adherence to ISO Integrated Management System (IMS) procedures (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
Responsibilities
Plant Operations
- Oversee daily operations of the plant to ensure safe and efficient production.
- Operate plant machinery and equipment when required to support production schedules.
- Monitor plant performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure minimal downtime.
- Maintain accurate production and maintenance records.
Maintenance
Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance schedules.
- Conduct inspections, diagnose breakdowns, and ensure timely repairs.
- Manage spare parts inventory and liaise with suppliers/contractors for repairs or service.
- Ensure compliance with statutory inspections, calibration, and equipment certifications.
Warehouse & Inventory Operations
- Manage warehouse activities including receiving, storage, handling, and dispatch of goods.
- Oversee stock control systems, ensuring accurate records and traceability.
- Implement FIFO (First-In, First-Out) and safe storage practices for chemicals and raw materials.
- Ensure warehouse layout and operations comply with Dangerous Goods and IMS requirements.
Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ)
- Ensure all plant and warehouse activities comply with IMS (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001) procedures.
- Promote a robust safety culture and conduct toolbox talks, training, and safety audits.
- Maintain risk assessments, safe work procedures, and emergency response plans.
- Ensure environmental and sustainability practices are followed in line with ISO 14001.
Documentation & Reporting
Complete daily ISO IMS documentation including:
- Production and maintenance logs
- Warehouse and inventory records
- Safety checklists and incident reports
- Waste, emissions, and environmental monitoring records
- Ensure documents are filed, coded, and accessible for audits and inspections.
- Report deviations, non-conformities, and improvement opportunities.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree/Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- Strong hands-on skills in operating and maintaining industrial machinery.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and IMS procedures (auditing experience desirable).
- Experience in warehouse systems, inventory control, and dangerous goods handling.
- Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong leadership and communication abilities.
