BEAR Scotland is a leading road maintenance and management service provider in Scotland, maintaining and improving Scottish Trunk Roads including bridges and structures through some of the most scenic, but challenging, parts of the country.
The Northwest Trunk Road Unit spans some 1,422 km of trunk road through some of the most scenic parts of the country.
It covers a huge area of Scotland, from Thurso and Wick in the very north of the Highlands down to Campbeltown in Argyll and Bute, from Uig on Skye to Perth and Stirling.
We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Planned Maintenance Manager to join our existing team on a full-time basis.
Roles and Responsibilities
Support the Planned Maintenance Manager and Roads Manager in securing the execution of all Operations in accordance with the requirements of this Contract.
Day-to-day management of a team delivering both the Roads Structural Maintenance and Routine Maintenance budgets within a geographic region of the Unit, to achieve full spend of the Client's budgets and meet Company financial targets.
Coordinate the team to ensure a steady flow of work for Operational and Sub-Contractor delivery.
Undertake the role of Principle Designer / Principal Contractor on behalf of the company as required, ensuring appropriate risk assessments are carried out, scheme designs are fit for purpose and comply with relevant technical standards.
Adhere to all Company policies and procedures, and to current legislation on Health and Safety, CDM, Environment and Accessibility, as well as liaising with clients, emergency services, local authorities and other stakeholders.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Professionally qualified or working towards professional qualification (IEng / CEng).
Knowledge of current design standards.
Working knowledge of contract control and management systems.
Ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure.
Ability to produce innovative solutions to engineering problems.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Full approved UK Driving licence.
