We're looking for a Senior SQL Server DBA who's deeply technical, customer‐focused, and ready to lead complex on‐premises SQL Server migrations from legacy (2005–2012) to SQL Server 2022 environments.
In this fixed‐term contract role, you'll take ownership of the full migration lifecycle – from analysis and planning through to implementation, tuning, and post‐migration support. You'll work directly with clients, guiding them through best practices while solving tough performance and availability challenges.
A bit about you:
* You're a seasoned SQL Server DBA with hands‐on migration experience across versions 2005 to 2022
* You thrive in customer‐facing roles and communicate clearly and confidently with stakeholders
* You have strong T‐SQL and PowerShell scripting skills (especially with dbatools)
* You're proactive, highly organised, and comfortable leading projects independently
* You bring deep knowledge of SQL Server HA/DR, performance tuning, and integration services
Some of the key things you'll do:
* Lead the migration of SQL Server databases from 2005–2012 to SQL Server 2022
* Analyse legacy environments and design robust migration strategies
* Optimise performance and troubleshoot issues during and after migration
* Implement and manage high availability/disaster recovery solutions where needed
* Collaborate closely with clients, project teams, and stakeholders to ensure smooth execution
* Provide technical guidance and contribute to uplift planning and delivery
* Maintain clear communication with Program and Project Managers on progress and risks
