**About the opportunity**
We are seeking to appoint an ongoing teaching-focused Lecturer or Associate Lecturer in the Faculty of Law. The Faculty of Law, one of Australia's premier law schools, has a long and distinguished history and strong reputation nationally and internationally for high quality research and success with competitive grant funding. The Faculty also has a number of staff and programs recognised nationally for excellence in teaching. With strong engagement with the community, it supports and helps to shape the law reform agenda through hosting the Tasmanian Law Reform Institute.
The Faculty seeks to promote a broad-based student experience, with an internationalised curriculum, including exposure to and opportunity to participate in social justice and community service activities. The Faculty provides a supportive, vibrant and collegiate environment, rich in diversity, promoting a high-performance culture for students and staff, and strongly engaged with the community.
**What you'll do**:
- Make an effective and sustained contribution to the University in fulfilling its operational responsibilities.
- Undertake scholarly undergraduate (and if relevant postgraduate) coursework teaching of a high quality.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of productive and effective links inside the University and locally and nationally with the discipline, relevant interdisciplinary domains, profession, industry and/or wider community.
- Undertake other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
**What we're looking for**:
- An undergraduate Honours degree in Law or equivalent, and a LLM (or preferably) PhD in a relevant field (or equivalent) or substantial relevant clinical / industry / professional experience.
- Demonstrated ability to teach at a tertiary level in private law (including at least basic commercial law).
- A record of contributing to building and maintaining effective and productive links locally and nationally with the discipline, profession, industry and wider community.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and capability to build strong and positive relationships with colleagues, students, and external stakeholders.
- Clinical/industry/professional experience relevant to the position is desirable.
**Salary details**
Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level A or Academic Level B and will have a total remuneration package of up to $121,737 - $150,759 comprising base salary within the range of $80,462 to $128,854 plus 17% superannuation.
