About the Role
As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced and driven Farm Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our turf farm, combined with a grazing and pasture management program.
This leadership role is responsible for managing the production and operational activities at the HG Turf farm in Alexandra, Victoria. You will lead the farm team and oversee turf production including planting, irrigation, fertilisation, spraying, harvesting and general turf maintenance. You will play a key role in planning, coordinating, and improving all aspects of the farm operations while upholding our strong family values and commitment to excellence.
Working closely with the sales and logistics teams, you will ensure turf production meets customer demand, quality standards and delivery schedules. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone with experience in turf, agriculture or farm production who enjoys leading teams and improving operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee all aspects of turf production including soil preparation, planting, irrigation, mowing, spraying, fertilising and harvesting
* Manage and lead farm staff including workshop
* Manage transport from farm to market
* Manage turf quality to ensure a consistent, high-quality product
* Operate and maintain turf machinery including tractors and harvesters
* Implement efficient irrigation practices to optimise water use.
* Manage the pasture renovation program including soil testing, seeding, fertilisation and weed control.
* Maintain workplace health and safety compliance
Qualifications & Experience
* Experience in farm management, turf production, agriculture, or a related field
* Strong agronomy and pasture management knowledge of soil health, pasture renovation techniques and plant nutrition is preferable
* Mechanical aptitude with farm machinery and equipment
* Strong people leadership and team management skills
* Current Driver’s Licence
