Details: WorkSafe ACT is a fully independent office headed by the Work Health and Safety (WHS) Commissioner. WorkSafe ACT achieves its objectives through a combination of compliance and enforcement, awareness raising, education, inspection, and investigation. It is responsible for monitoring and enforcing compliance by duty holders in accordance with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (WHS Act) and associated legislation including dangerous substances, workers' compensation, and Labour Hire Licensing.

We have an exciting permanent vacancy for a suitably skilled professional to fill the role of Assistant Director, Strategic Human Resources (HR) and Industrial Relations (IR).

In this role you will manage a wide range of duties that provides high-level strategic support on human resources and industrial relations to WorkSafe ACT. This includes providing advice on HR and IR related matters to stakeholders, developing and administering HR policies and practices, workforce planning, and implementing strategies for recruitment, attraction, and retention to ensure best practice initiatives and processes are embedded in the agency.

If successful, you will:

* Provide expert advice and guidance on relevant legislation, enterprise agreements, and HR policies, to ensure managers and staff receive accurate and timely support.
* Review, draft, and recommend HR policies, templates and procedures, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and whole-of-government standards.
* Provide strategic and operational support on industrial relations matters, including engagement with unions, interpretation of enterprise agreements, and contributing to dispute resolution processes.
* Coordinate workforce planning activities, including monitoring staffing requirements and providing proactive recommendations to support organisational needs.
* Manage a team by overseeing day-to-day operations and supervising staff to deliver high-quality outcomes.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:

* Relevant qualifications and professional memberships in human resources and a minimum of 5 years relevant experience in the public sector is highly desirable.

Notes: A Merit Pool may be established from this selection process and may be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on referee reports and written application only. This position has moved to a workplace designed for activity-based working (ABW). Under ABW arrangements, officers do not have a designated workstation/desk.
