About the Role
The Flinders Health and Medical Research Institute (FHMRI) is seeking a Research Development Manager to enhance the University's research funding performance and growth. Working with researchers in the Institute and with your knowledge of the health and medical research funding environment, you will provide high level project management support across research funding proposals and bids.
Additionally, you will:
- Deliver quality support, including bid development and coordination, grants craft expertise, project management, and bid strategic reviews.
- Contribute to strategic planning and advise FHMRI leadership on research growth opportunities.
- Lead Research Development Support staff, ensuring high-quality support and overseeing training for strategic grant review.
About You
You bring a strong foundation of experience in research development, underpinned by excellent communication, critical thinking, and organisational skills. With a collaborative and proactive approach, you demonstrate leadership, adaptability, and the ability to navigate complex environments while supporting high-quality research outcomes.
As the Research Development Manager, you will also demonstrate:
- In-depth knowledge of health and medical research funding and proposal competitiveness.
- Expertise in grant writing, policy and guideline interpretation, and project coordination.
- Strong skills in strategic analysis, reporting, and managing multifaceted research initiatives.

- Broad knowledge of the health and medical research funding landscape and assessment of research proposal quality/competitiveness.
- Demonstrated high level written and oral communication skills, including proposal writing/editing and ability to communicate complex concepts.
- Demonstrated project management experience in supporting development of funding proposals.
- Demonstrated capability in leadership and the ability to build a high performing team in a complex environment.
