Opportunity

CSIRO's Health and Biosecurity (H&B) Research Unit is dedicated to research that addresses the interdependencies of human, animal and environmental health and biosecurity challenges, with an aspiration to realise a true One Health approach. We are seeking two Communication Advisors to help amplify the impact of CSIRO's H&B science.

As the Communication Advisor, you will support the delivery of H&B's science through effective internal and external communications, including working with researchers from CSIRO's Australian Centre for Disease Preparedness (ACDP). You'll collaborate with scientists, engineers and research teams across CSIRO to raise the profile of H&B's projects with national and international stakeholders.

Working closely with the H&B and ACDP Communication Managers, you'll use your hands‐on communication expertise to contribute to the successful planning and delivery of initiatives that translate H&B's research into impactful communications.

High‐level duties
* Develop and deliver integrated communication plans that leverage media relations, digital and social content, and marketing communications to build and protect the CSIRO brand.
* Participate as a part of CSIRO's Communications function in a flexible Research Units partnerships model to support and respond to shifting priorities.
* Establish and maintain truster advisor relationships internally and externally to deliver on key RU priorities and communication goals.
* Assist the H&B and ACDP Communication Managers with the identification and management of issues, as required.
* Use Communication Unit systems (e.g. Sitecore) and processes for delivery of high‐quality media and content.
* Work collaboratively across the Communication Unit as a member of an often geographically dispersed team, to carry out communication tasks.
Role particulars

Location: Sydney, Brisbane, Canberra, Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne, other locations considered.

Salary: AU$100k – AU$113k per annum (pro rata for part-time), plus 15.4% superannuation.

Tenure: 1 x Specified term of 12 months, Full-time; 1 x Specified term of 6 months, Full-time.

As the successful candidate, you will bring
* Relevant tertiary qualification and/or relevant experience in communication – PR, marketing, digital, internal communication, media or journalism.
* Demonstrated experience in the development and delivery of communication plans.
* Demonstrated experience creating content across a range of different platforms, including for digital audiences.
* Highly driven team player with an ability to work collaboratively and independently.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
* The ability to manage multiple deadlines while maintaining excellent attention to detail and quality, and operate well in an often complex, ambiguous and fast‐moving environment.
* The ability to build and maintain excellent collaborative relationships with stakeholders that help to achieve positive outcomes.
Desirable
* Domain knowledge or expertise relevant to one or more of CSIRO's RUs, and/or relationships with key stakeholders in these areas.
