Six Degrees Executive has been retained by an established Australian manufacturer in the industrial, infrastructure and construction markets to recruit a National Technical & Commercial Manager. This role leads technical strategy, product innovation and customer solution development during a phase of business growth and transformation.
This is a unique opportunity for a commercially minded technical leader who has successfully taken products from concept through to commercialisation and can demonstrate tangible market success. Working closely with the CEO and senior leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in identifying market opportunities, developing innovative product solutions and strengthening strategic customer relationships across Australia.
About the Opportunity
This is not a traditional laboratory-based R&D role, nor is it purely technical support. The successful candidate will own the innovation agenda, identifying gaps in the market, developing commercially viable solutions and working closely with customers to understand application challenges and translate them into product opportunities. You will be the technical face of the business for key customers, major projects and strategic accounts while collaborating internally across sales, production, quality and operations to deliver sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the technical and innovation strategy across industrial, infrastructure and construction markets
* Identify market opportunities and develop new products from ideation through to commercialisation
* Engage directly with key customers, distributors, contractors, engineers and asset owners to understand market needs and application requirements
* Provide senior technical leadership and guidance across a broad range of specialised industrial products
* Support major projects, specification opportunities and strategic account growth initiatives
* Lead technical investigations, product performance reviews and continuous improvement initiatives
* Deliver technical training, mentoring and capability development across internal and external stakeholders
* Contribute to business planning, market analysis and long-term growth strategies
About You
You are a technically credible and commercially astute leader who enjoys working closely with customers and influencing business outcomes.
* Demonstrated success in product development and innovation within adhesives, resins, coatings, polymers, construction chemicals or specialty chemicals
* Proven experience taking products from concept through development and commercial launch
* Strong formulation knowledge within chemical and industrial based products and the ability to work effectively with laboratory and technical teams
* Experience identifying market gaps and translating customer requirements into commercially successful solutions
* A strong understanding of infrastructure, construction materials, industrial manufacturing or related sectors
* Experience working with specification-driven products and project-based sales environments
* Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills
* The ability to operate effectively in a hands-on, entrepreneurial environment
Relevant qualifications in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Science, Civil Engineering or related disciplines will be highly regarded.
