We are seeking a full-time Senior Track & Civil Design Engineer to join our team on a permanent basis, based at MTM's Docklands head office.Perform Track & Civil design activities—primarily supporting renewal projects—and conduct thorough design reviews and checks of work produced by others to ensure alignment with Metro's engineering principles, standards, and operational requirements.What We OfferJoin a high‐performing engineering team delivering critical upgrades across Melbourne's rail network.Enjoy stable, long‐term career growth with a permanent role in a major rail operator.Make a real impact by shaping safe, reliable, and future‐ready track & civil infrastructure for millions of passengers.Key ResponsibilitiesLeadthe delivery of designactivities relating to the development ofTrack & Civil design, including drawings, design reports, engineering calculations, and other outputs as necessary to provide assurance that the design meets MTM requirements.Check and approveTrack & Civil designs as an MTM approved SOC.Apply infrastructure, engineering standards and system specifications toprepare designs .Identify and assist in resolving non‐conformanceswith the design standards or the operational requirements and provide the Track & Civil Design Review Manager a recommendation on granting of waivers.Providetechnical adviceon projects to other officers/divisions and external parties as directed.Adherence to all legislative and regulatory requirementsincluding conducting and participating in Safety in Design, risk assessments, and peer reviews as required.Assist with the preparationof MTM Management of Change and Engineering Change Processes.Qualifications & ExperienceTertiary qualifications in Engineering, meeting the eligibility requirements for membership with Engineers Australia, or an equivalent technical qualification supported by demonstrated industry capability acceptable to MTM.Registered Professional Engineer of Victoria (RPEV)accreditation.Experience using design softwareand drafting includingBentley Microstationis required.MTM‐endorsed Designer and Checker competencies .Proven ability toapply structured risk management processesacross engineering activities and design decisions.Strong capability tocollect, analyse, interpret, and present engineering datato support informed decision‐making.Well‐developedwritten and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with staff and management at all levels.Demonstrated commitment torail industry safety, including adherence to occupational health, safety, and environmental procedures.Effectivetime management and task prioritisationskills, with the ability to work independently and meet competing deadlines.Recruitment ProcessInitial phone interviewBehavioural interviewPre‐employment checks – Police check, Category 3 medical assessment, and reference checksJob offerInterested?
