We are partnering with a highly regarded, global professional services organisation to recruit an experienced Credit Controller for a 12-month fixed-term contract. This role will suit an experienced Credit Controller who understands the nuances of billing and collections within a professional services or partnership environment, where relationship management and stakeholder engagement are as important as technical capability.
The Role
Reporting to the Credit Manager and working closely with Partners, Practice Managers, and Finance teams, you will take ownership of a defined ledger and play a key role in managing working capital performance across the business.
Key responsibilities include:
End-to-end management of the accounts receivable and collections process
Proactively managing debtor portfolios to minimise aged debt and improve cash flow
Building strong working relationships with Partners and senior stakeholders to drive timely collections
Monitoring WIP, billing cycles, and payment trends across practice groups
Conducting regular debtor review meetings with fee earners and leadership teams
Resolving client billing queries efficiently and professionally
Negotiating payment arrangements while maintaining positive client relationships
Producing aged debtor reporting and providing insights on collection risks
Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across billing and credit processes
Ensuring compliance with internal policies and client contractual requirements
About You
Proven experience in credit control within professional services (legal, consulting, accounting, engineering, or similar partnership-based environments)
Strong understanding of WIP, billing, and collections cycles in a services-led business
Experience engaging with senior stakeholders, including Partners or Directors
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
A proactive, solutions-focused approach to debt recovery
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
Intermediate Excel and finance system experience
Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
This is a 12-month contract with the option to start immediately but the client will wait for the right person. They have a progressive and supportive work environment and a global brand.
