With a proud history and a commitment to excellence, the Beaudesert Show Society is seeking a dynamic, hands‑on chief executive officer to actively drive and develop the organization. As a premier show and event venue in Southern Queensland and Caravan Park operator, we are looking for a leader who will strengthen day‑to‑day operations, build strong stakeholder relationships, and deliver Show Society events and a vibrant year‑round event calendar.
This role goes well beyond event delivery. We are seeking someone who can work closely with volunteers and members to develop the showgrounds and the organization that underpins the show, ensuring both are positioned for long‑term growth and sustainability.

About the Role
The CEO will oversee all aspects of the Beaudesert Show Society’s operations, with hands‑on involvement in financial sustainability and compliance, stakeholder engagement, staff and volunteer management, and event delivery. Reporting to the President, you will provide strategic leadership while ensuring the organization grows and continues to serve the local and regional community.
Key Responsibilities
* Strategic Planning & Leadership – Develop and implement strategic and operational plans aligned to the Society’s long‑term goals.
* Financial & Business Management – Oversee budgeting, financial controls, and revenue growth, including venue hire, sponsorships and grants, with hands‑on involvement in financial record keeping and reporting, particularly during the initial phase of the role, and preparation and presentation of financial reports.
* Stakeholder Engagement & Partnerships – Build strong relationships with government agencies, council, sponsors, and community partners.
* Show & Event Management – Deliver a successful Beaudesert Show and other Society events, working collaboratively with existing event leadership, while maintaining a balanced focus on year‑round venue development.
* Facility & Asset Management – Manage the Showgrounds as a viable, multi‑purpose community and commercial facility, including oversight of grounds hire and close operational involvement with on‑site managers.
* Staff & Volunteer Development – Support and lead staff and volunteers to foster a strong culture of collaboration, professionalism and pride.
* Governance & Compliance – Ensure strong governance, risk management, WHS and quality assurance practices are upheld.
Who We’re Looking For
We are seeking a strategic, hands‑on, outcomes‑driven leader who is comfortable operating at both executive and day‑to‑day operational levels with the skills and experience to guide the Beaudesert Show Society into its next phase of development.
Key Selection Criteria
* Proven senior leadership experience, ideally in not‑for‑profit, business development, or community‑based organisations (beyond event delivery).
* Strong commercial and financial management skills, with experience in budgeting, revenue growth, operational oversight, preparation and presentation of financial reports.
* Ability to operationalise strategic plans into effective, on‑the‑ground outcomes.
* Demonstrated success in stakeholder engagement, government relations and community partnerships.
* Experience managing staff and volunteers with a collaborative, hands‑on approach.
* Strong understanding of governance, risk, and regulatory compliance in a community, facility or member‑based setting.
* A genuine commitment to community development, and enthusiasm for supporting the agricultural show movement.
