Your opportunity to join us in North Ryde!As the Senior Financial Accountant, you will play a crucial role within our Finance team, supporting the Group Finance Manager.This role is responsible for providing high quality, accurate and timely financial accounting support to ensure compliance, enhance decision making and achieve business goals. A key focus of this role will be to apply a challenging mindset with a view to improve and enhance processes and controls.Key responsibilities: Lead, develop and mentor small team of financial accountantsPrepare annual and half-yearly financial reports with precision and expertiseStay ahead of the curve by analysing the impact of new accounting standards and presenting technical accounting papersUnderstand conceptional principles of AASB 16 lease accounting and assist with managing the accounting entries and analysis as requiredCarry out accounting for Group transactions relating to equity, such as share capital movements, share-based payments, dividends (internal and external), investments in subsidiaries, other investments and any related impairment matters with appropriate source documentationPrepare weekly/monthly/ad-hoc journal entries to ensure accuracy and completeness of the P&L and Balance SheetPerform and oversee month-end processes with a focus on ensuring the accuracy of all reconciliationsPrepare assigned sections of monthly board pack slidesForecasting and budgeting for group expenseConduct analysis of the general ledger on a monthly or ad-hoc basis, identifying variances against budget (or forecast) and last year and providing commentary explaining material variances.Prepare reports, reconciliations and supporting schedules for external audit teamCoordinate and partner with finance and non-finance stakeholders as requiredLead and drive process improvements across the businessExecute day-to-day treasury deals including Term Deposits, large forward contracts/hedge positionsDraft semi-annual covenant calculations and compliance certificate.Implement and deliver an effective control environment, through the cascade of group policies and proceduresKey requirements:Bachelor's degree in Finance / AccountingCPA/ CA (or studying towards) desirable but not mandatoryPrevious Big 4 experience will be highly advantageousStrong leadership skills with experience managing direct reportsTM1 – Financial reportingBPCS – Accounting ERPAbility to analyses data and information and translate it into business insightsUnderstanding of stakeholder engagementAbility to be able to frame a problem and influence an outcomeIntermediate Microsoft ExcelWe're looking for people who are curious, caring, courageous and committed to join us.
