Primary objective
To provide customer focused and effective services which is essential for the administrative operations of the Tennant Creek Hospital.

Key duties and responsibilities
1. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in

order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces
2. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour.
3. Assist with managing the day to day running of the Patient Services department including co-ordinating leave, manage roster using

Onestaff and maintain the operations of the department.
4. Co-ordinate and assist with the administrative tasks involved with the Patient Services department at Tennant Creek Hospital.
5. Assist Patient Services Manager to oversee the effective operations and administrative processes of the Patient Services, including

maintaining clinic lists, filing, correspondences, phones and management of medical records.
6. Recognise emerging issues, conflicts, add quality improvement projects and patient feedback in the RiskMan system.
7. Co-ordinate and follow up revenue reports, patient billings and Medicare claims for Tennant Creek Hospital with Revenue Department

and provide accurate, relevant and timely reports to Patient Services Manager.
8. Provide administration assistance for invoices and procurement through NTG Pay as a coder to organize the process for approvals.

Selection criteria
Essential
1. Year 12 or equivalent must be completed.
2. Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise a team to deliver required outcomes within a hospital environment.
3. Demonstrated understanding of and sensitivity to Aboriginal cultural issues with the ability to interact effectively with diverse cultures.
4. Highly developed interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with the ability to build relationships and work collaboratively

and negotiate and manage conflict with staff, clients and stakeholders.
5. Demonstrated experience in the use of Microsoft Office software and understanding of computer systems used in NT Health or

willingness to learn.
6. High level of organisational skills, the ability to set priorities, complete tasks and meet deadlines with minimal supervision, maintain

confidentiality in the workplace and ability to operate as an effective team member.
7. Demonstrated strong ability to work independently and as part of a team to work under pressure in a dynamic environment, and

respond positively to change.
8. Ability to understand and follow legislation, regulations and administrative procedures.

Desirable
1. Certificate IV in Administration or higher
2. Knowledge of the organisational structure and functions of the NT Health Barkly and Tennant Creek Hospital.
