Introduction
Gardiner Chess is the leading chess coaching organisation is Queensland. We pride ourselves on teaching chess and providing an ongoing pathway for students starting with our weekly classes and all the way through to events and even becoming a coach We aim to make our lessons fun and engaging whilst ensuring we teach the game of chess properly to all our students. Coaches are provided with all the resources necessary to ensure they are successful with ongoing training. Our coaches come from all walks of life and this provides the opportunity for each coach to be themselves whilst having a framework to use as a template.
We also run Inter‑School tournaments, weekend events and holiday programs so there are many opportunities to get additional work, and even look towards potential leadership roles.
Requirements
A Blue Card is required to work in this role (can be applied for upon successful interview).
Australian work rights are required for this position.
Recruitment Notice
Currently recruiting for all areas of Brisbane as we continue to grow
Recruitment is currently being done with a view to training during December and a proper start once schools start back in 2026.
Qualifications & Experience
* Candidates must have basic chess knowledge including understanding of rules and fundamental gameplay
* Previous experience working with children is a bonus
Tasks & Responsibilities
* Teaching children about the game of chess
* Coaches will primarily work with primary school aged children between 5-12 years
* Ensuring rolls are marked and any notes added as necessary
* Ensuring lessons are prepared for the class
* Potential to work at Inter‑School Tournaments, Weekend Events and Holiday Programs
* Promote upcoming events
* Promote usage of our additional programs such as Chesskid.com
* Make a difference to the students you engage with
* Ongoing support from our super admin team
* Camaraderie of working with other coaches and building a community
