OverviewWe have an excellent opportunity for a Data Engineer to join our team within the Hunter Class BU.
We are flexible with location; this role can be performed from Adelaide, Melbourne or Sydney.ResponsibilitiesDesign, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using modern tooling and best practices.Automate data ingestion from source systems (APIs, files, databases, streaming platforms).
Build and maintain enterprise data warehouse structures (star/snowflake schemas, dimensional models).
Implement data marts, aggregated models, and semantic layers for BI/reporting use cases.Execute database administration tasks for operational and analytical databases.Manage performance tuning, indexing strategies, query optimisation, capacity planning, and backups.Own end-to-end data integrations between enterprise systems (e.g., ERP, PLM, CAD/Engineering apps, CRM).
Work with APIs, queues, ESB/iPaaS tools, TIBCO, or similar middleware to build robust integration workflows.Implement validation, cleansing, reconciliation, and monitoring frameworks to ensure high data quality.Contribute to metadata management, lineage capture, and governance standards.Work closely with data analysts, BI developers, application teams, and functional SMEs to translate business requirements into technical solutions.Participate in Agile ceremonies, technical design reviews, and architecture discussions.Support production systems through on-call rotations or escalation processes when required.About You4+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or similar role.Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent experience.Professional certifications (cloud, data engineering, DB admin) are an advantage.Strong expertise with ETL/ELT toolsSolid understanding of data warehousing concepts and dimensional modelling.Hands-on experience with SQL, stored procedures, performance tuning, and database optimisation.Experience with DBA tasks (indexes, backups, maintenance plans, security, patching).
