As the Capital City of Western Australia, the City of Perth is a local government that is ambitious for the future. Our aim is to grow the city to 55,000 residents by 2036, to embed sustainability into everything we do, and to facilitate a prosperous and thriving city.
The City is looking for a Sustainability Lead to help deliver the Sustainability Strategy by leading the research, consultation and analysis on a diverse range of issues relevant to the growth and future of the city, with a focus on moving towards a net zero city.
The primary focus area for this position will be preparing and delivering the Sustainability Implementation Plan, including the collection of knowledge, identification and justification of appropriate actions and undertaking project work to deliver sustainable outcomes across the city.
As the Sustainability Lead, you will support the City by:
- Leading research, consulting, and analysing a range of issues relevant to the growth and future of the city and organisation, with a focus on the sustainability of the city.
- Developing a sustainability map, including establishing baseline data, undertaking necessary analytics, and providing high-quality advice to influence decision-making across the organisation.
- Preparing comprehensive reports to management and council on a range of sustainability issues and projects.
- Finding an alignment between federal, state, and local governments regarding objectives in the sustainability field.
This position will engage with internal stakeholders at all levels of the organisation to embed sustainability into existing processes and procedures. This role will also engage with external stakeholders including other government bodies.
