Due to continued growth, the Torrens Health group is seeking an experienced & motivated Senior Payroll Officer to lead and oversee payroll operations in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
This role is full-time (Monday to Friday) and is responsible for the end-to-end payroll function. You will provide guidance and leadership to the Payroll Officer, act as an escalation point for payroll queries, and ensure all payroll services are delivered accurately, on time, and in compliance with legislation. You will also drive continuous improvement initiatives to future-proof payroll systems and processes.
Essential duties required to succeed:
Supervise, train, and support the Payroll Officer
Act as the escalation point for payroll queries and complex cases
Oversee high-volume, end-to-end payroll processing, including new starters, terminations, cash-outs, long service leave, parental leave, and other entitlements
Ensure compliance with awards, enterprise agreements, ATO requirements, superannuation, and other relevant legislation
Manage salary packaging arrangements, deductions, and remittances to providers
Finalise end-of-year processes, including STP and reconciliations
Prepare and deliver payroll reports for management and auditors
Reconcile payroll-related balance sheet accounts
Monitor payroll KPIs and recommend process improvements
Stay up to date with legislative changes and advise management of impacts
Build strong relationships with Finance, HR, Business Unit Managers, and external stakeholders

About You:
A pre-requisite is strong skills in Payroll and Invoicing.
Several years' experience in payroll, with increasing responsibility (minimum two years in a similar role, ideally in the healthcare, aged care, disability, or NDIS sector)
Experience with high-volume payroll processing (300+ employees)
Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, awards (e.g. Clerks Award & SCHADS Award), enterprise agreements, leave entitlements, and superannuation
Strong organisational skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritise workload, and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines
High-level communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to resolve complex issues
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Proficiency in payroll systems (e.g. MYOB, Visipay, UKG, Payroll Metrics, Xero) and Microsoft Office, with the ability to learn new software
Strong skills in Payroll and Invoicing
