Job Summary
Mater Private Hospital Bundaberg is currently offering multiple exciting opportunities for nursing care assistants to join our team in the Medical, Surgical, and Rehabilitation Unit.
Responsibilities:
The nursing care assistant assists and supports the clinical teams in the provision of safe and quality patient-centred care under the direction of the Registered Nurse, Midwife or Enrolled Nurse.
1. Assist in the provision of care and support of patients within the scope of nursing practice, professional expertise and recognised competencies by undertaking the following non-exhaustive practices if required:
* Gathering information about patient care needs through observation and notification to senior clinical staff of identified changes in the health and functional status of patients in a timely manner;
o Observation of patients' physical and emotional condition;
o Notification of senior clinical staff of any changes in patients' condition;
* Undertaking observations and assessments;
o Carrying out regular observations of patients' physical and emotional condition;
o Recording and reporting observations and assessment findings to senior clinical staff;
* Following the direction and delegation of the appropriate senior clinical staff member;
o Implementing treatment plans as directed by senior clinical staff;
o Ensuring that all care activities are carried out safely and effectively;
* Assisting with the patient's personal hygiene, appearance and dietary consumption needs;
o Providing assistance with personal care activities such as bathing, dressing, and toileting;
o Assisting with meal preparation and feeding patients;
* Maintaining a safe, sanitary and secure environment for patients;
o Ensuring that the patient's environment is clean, tidy and free from hazards;
o Reporting any safety concerns or hazards to senior clinical staff;
* Adhere to care plans to contribute to the optimal care outcomes in collaboration with members of the clinical team(s);
* Ensure episode of care documentation is in accordance with applicable Mater frameworks, policies, procedures, work instructions, forms and guidelines;
* Organise workload to prioritise critical care processes in consultation with the appropriate senior clinical staff member;
* Contribute to the holistic care of patients by contributing to the employee's overall comfort and wellbeing regarding the values, customs and spiritual beliefs of patients and their family/carer's; and
* Coach, mentor and support colleagues where appropriate with regard to own level of expertise
Requirements:
To be successful, you will need:
* Minimum Certificate III qualification in Individual Support or Health Services Assistance or studying towards equivalent or higher qualification;
o Qualifications in individual support or health services assistance;
o Knowledge of relevant policies, procedures and guidelines;
* Prior comparable experience as an Assistant in Nursing or Personal Care Attendant/Assistant (desired);
* Digital and computer proficiency, extending to Microsoft 365 applications
