Job Summary
This is a senior leadership position that requires expertise in engineering and planning to lead the Development Engineering Assessment Team.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Queensland principles and legislation affecting development, including the Planning Act 2016 and relevant planning schemes.

Key Responsibilities
* Lead the Development Engineering Assessment Team: Provide leadership, support and guidance to team members to create a positive work culture in line with organisational values, which promotes teamwork, personal accountability and encourages continuous improvement.
* Coordinate Development Applications: Coordinate the assessment and process management of development applications for all operational works matters and provision of expert technical advice into applications for all land use and subdivision of land.
* Provide Expert Advice: Research and provide high level expert advice and assistance on engineering, planning and environment matters to elected representatives, developers, consultants, internal officers and the general public on a daily basis.
* Negotiate and Assess Applications: Negotiate, assess and process operational works and prescribed tidal works applications in a timely manner, while maintaining a strategic focus on Council's long term planning objectives and asset standards.

Requirements
* Leadership and Human Relations Skills: Experience in leadership and human relations skills and an ability to recognise and respond to the needs of others.
* Expert Knowledge and Understanding: Expert knowledge and understanding of Queensland principles and legislation affecting development, including the Planning Act 2016 and relevant planning schemes.
* Problem Solving and Decision Making: Exercise initiative, judgement and autonomy in making decisions, solving problems and resolving conflicts in relation to development applications and other development related matters.
