As a Solar Field Service Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the optimal performance and maintenance of solar farms across the NSW and the ACT. You will be responsible for conducting routine inspections, troubleshooting technical issues, and performing necessary repairs to guarantee the efficiency and longevity of installations. This position requires strong technical expertise, a commitment to safety, and exceptional customer service skills.
**Responsibilities**:
- Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on utility-scale solar installations to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues, including but not limited to inverter failures, wiring problems, and malfunctioning monitoring systems.
- Perform mechanical tasks such as inspecting and maintaining solar tracking systems, ensuring proper alignment and functionality.
- Conduct visual inspections of solar panels, checking for physical damage, soiling, or shading that may impact performance.
- Perform thermal imaging inspections to identify any abnormalities or hotspots in the solar array.
- Conduct voltage and current measurements to evaluate the performance of individual solar panels and identify potential issues.
- Monitor and analyze data from SCADA systems to identify trends and patterns that may indicate system inefficiencies or malfunctions.
- Collaborate with the operations team to schedule and prioritize maintenance tasks and service calls effectively.
- Prepare accurate service reports, documenting all maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, industry regulations, and company policies during all maintenance and repair activities.
- Stay updated with the latest industry standards, emerging technologies, and best practices through continuous learning and training.
- Provide technical support and guidance to other team members as needed.
**Qualifications**:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or degree in a related field is a plus.
- Proven experience as a Solar Field Service Technician or similar role.
- In-depth knowledge of solar energy systems, including PV modules, inverters, racking systems, and monitoring devices.
- Strong understanding of electrical and electronic components and systems.
- Proficient in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to solar installations.
- Familiarity with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel extensively across the NSW and the ACT as needed.
