Since 1991, Allambee has been providing trauma therapeutic counselling, support services, and community education for people of the Peel region impacted by domestic, family, and sexual violence, and other forms of trauma. Allambee's focus is on creating healthy futures for children, young people and families.

**About the Role**

We are currently recruiting for a counsellor position in our clinical team providing therapeutic interventions for clients impacted by sexual assault, sexual abuse or family & domestic violence. The counsellor will be based at Allambee's Peel Health Hub office and Outreach site.

**JOB DESCRIPTION**

**Position Title**: Counsellor

**Reporting Relationships**:Services Manager

**Award**: Health Professionals & Support Services Award 2010

**Position Status**: 12-month contract

**Hours Worked**: Part-time (Days/hours are negotiable)

**Location**: Mandurah

**Organisational Information**

Allambee promotes wellbeing and capacity in individuals, families and the community through the provision of therapeutic counselling, support services, and community education for people impacted by sexual abuse/ assault, family domestic violence, and other forms of trauma.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Provision of evidence-based assessment and interventions for children, young people and adults
- Provision of crisis intervention for clients who have experienced recent sexual assault or disclosure
- Design and delivery of evidence-based group counselling interventions and psychoeducational programs
- Interagency consultation and collaborative case management
- Actively engage in reflective practice, supervision and professional development

**Selection Criteria**:
**ESSENTIAL**
- Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of trauma informed care and practice
- Sound knowledge and experience of best practice therapeutic interventions with children, adolescents, and adults who have experience violence, abuse and/or trauma
- An understanding of family and domestic violence, sexual assault/abuse and the impacts of trauma consistent with best practice theoretical frameworks
- Understanding and appreciation of issues for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and people from CALD backgrounds
- Understanding and appreciation of issues for people of diverse genders
- Demonstrated self-management and reflective practice skills
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and independently.

**Qualifications and Requirements**
- Degree in Psychology, Social Work or Counselling (or relevant associated field) with eligibility for membership of the relevant professional association.
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in in providing counselling interventions to children, adolescents and/or adults.
- Must hold Australian citizenship or be a permanent resident of Australia.
- Current drivers' license.
- National Police Clearance and Working with Children Check.
- Evidence of qualification(s).
- Compliance with the Covid-19 vaccination mandate is a requirement for the position.
