SMS Healthcare is seeking a Patient Services Coordinator to join our LASERSIGHT Brisbane team on a part-time basis (3.5 days per week).

Tuesday: 8:00am – 4:00pm
Friday: 8:00am – 4:30pm
Saturday: 8:00am – 11:00am

About the Role
This is a varied and hands-on role where you'll manage patient interactions, coordinate bookings, and ensure smooth clinic operations.
You'll work closely with our doctors and practice manager to deliver exceptional service and maintain accurate records.
Key Responsibilities
Be the first point of contact for patients—in person, over the phone, and via email
Manage bookings, appointments, and payments using our patient management system
Schedule consultations, assessments, and surgical appointments
Conduct initial refractive screening questions to determine suitability
Handle rescheduling, cancellations, and follow-up reminders
Maintain strong relationships with referral networks
Coordinate theatre lists and surgical bookings for our doctors
Maintain accurate patient records and handle general enquiries
Assist with monthly reporting and ad hoc administrative tasks
Keep the reception area professional and welcoming
About You
Minimum 3 years' experience in medical administration/reception
Background in optical or ophthalmology (highly regarded)
Confident with EMR systems and scheduling tools—experience with Genie or Xestro a big plus
Understanding of Medicare, private health funds, and third-party billing
Warm, clear communicator with excellent written and verbal skills
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Ability to prioritise and stay calm in a fast-paced setting
Team player who can also work independently
