About the role
- We are seeking a values-driven and proactive General Manager for Strategic Emergency and Disaster Management Services. This role is responsible for leading the development and delivery of emergency and disaster responses to local communities in need across Australia. This position is a member of the Department leadership team and will provide input, insight and context, in the development of strategic initiatives of the Department.
- You will successfully- Lead the planning and development of an evidence based national framework and operating model for meeting the needs of local communities across Australia in relation to emergency and disaster response-
- Oversee and be accountable for all phases of disaster responses in the Australia Territory, which includes, but is not limited to, planning, training, and resourcing, pre-disaster, first response, recovery operations and community building-
- Establish processes that clearly define expected outcomes required of managers and programs and ensure accountability for planned outcomes-
- Be a leader in the sector nationally and represent the interests of impacted communities and TSA in various national forums-
- Collaborate with managers within The Salvation Army to provide integrated and consistent service delivery and contribute to national strategy-
- Liaise with Communications and Public Relations team relative to promotion, fundraising, publicity during and after incidents-
- Demonstrates knowledge of disaster response and recovery models, theories and practicesThis is a permanent full-time position based in Blackburn, Victoria or Redfern, New South Wales Head Quarters. This is an award free role.
- You will have- Degree qualification in community development or related field and extensive relevant experience, post graduate qualifications would be well regarded-
- Senior Management experience in social and community services sector-
- Degree qualification in business or equivalent business management experience-
- Experience in active membership in community or government bodies within the sector-
- Sound understanding of emergency services volunteer involvement-
- A national police record check is required-
- An international police record check is required, where applicable-
- Relevant state Working with Children Check is required- We are committed to providing a safe environment for our people. Please note that The Salvation Army has a mandatory vaccination procedure._
