Position Information
Irrawang Public School is a vibrant and inclusive P–6 school located on Worimi Country in the Port Stephens region. The school serves a diverse community of approximately 290–340 students from Preschool to Year 6, with 32–40% of students identifying as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and 2–8% from non-English speaking backgrounds. The school includes 12 mainstream classes, a Department of Education Preschool, three support classes (IO, IM and ILSMH), and a Schools as Community Centres (SaCC) program – Thou Walla.

Specific Selection Criteria

* A highly visible and inspirational leader who empowers staff and builds positive, authentic relationships with all members of the school community to strengthen a culture of continuous school improvement, embracing educational challenges and change.
* Proven ability to build staff capacity and promote staff wellbeing through collaborative practices, instructional leadership, and fostering a positive, supportive and growth‐focused culture.
* Demonstrated capacity to contribute effectively as a member of the executive leadership team, leading whole‐school initiatives aligned with strategic directions, while successfully balancing the dual role of classroom teacher and Assistant Principal.
General Selection Criteria
* Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
* Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
* Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
* Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
* Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
* Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
Special Notes
Special Note: The successful applicant must be willing to supervise across P–6 and teach across K–6 at various times during their tenure at Irrawang Public School. The role may include on‐class, off‐class, or a combination of both responsibilities to best meet the needs of the school.
