School Context
Daylesford Secondary College serves the Shire of Hepburn and offers purpose‑designed collaborative learning spaces, technologies that encourage inquisitive learning and a curriculum that emphasises critical and creative thinking. The college has an enrolment of 440 students, draws from a wide region, and is situated between Ballarat and Bendigo, one hundred kilometres from Melbourne. Sixty‑five per cent of students travel by up to 35 kilometres on school buses.
Role
The instrumental music education support class position involves working with students to develop their skills and knowledge in instrumental music. This role supports the educational services being provided to students and does not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. The education support officer works under the direct guidance and structure of a qualified teacher and, unless required, does not provide independent supervision of students.
Responsibilities
* Provide specialist advice, under supervision of senior personnel, to students in relation to instrumental music – singing & brass.
* Contribute positively to the music faculty and the school.
* Support various bands, musical groups and individual students in developing the music program at the school.
* Manage equipment and materials under the supervision of teachers.
* Perform some after‑hours work when required.
