Overview
Life-changing science is ourfocus, we start there and everything else follows.
As we enter 2026, we are at a transformative inflection point. With a proprietary drug-delivery platform and a maturing pipeline of first-in-class RNA therapies, we are transitioning from a clinical explorer to a globally recognized biotech leader.
We are seeking a visionary People & Culture Manager to serve as our first dedicated internal HR leader.
In this sole-charge role, you will be the architect of our human capital strategy. You will balance the high-level needs of the Board and Executive team with the daily realities of our scientists and corporate staff in a fast-paced biotech. This role blends strategic HR thinking with hands-on delivery. You\'ll be the trusted advisor to managers, shape HR frameworks, drive culture initiatives, and support employees across the employment cycle lifecycle.
Responsibilities
* Organizational Design & Growth: Establish transparent career pathways and promotion criteria. You will lead the transition from an "organic" startup structure to a formalized global framework with clear job levels and titles.
* Talent Acquisition & Onboarding: Manage the end-to-end recruitment lifecycle for highly specialized scientific and corporate roles. You will design an onboarding experience that integrates new hires into our "One Team" philosophy from day one.
* Performance & Development: Implement a lightweight, high-impact performance management system that prioritizes continuous feedback, professional development for lab-based scientists, and leadership coaching for managers.
* Employee Relations & Wellbeing: Serve as an impartial, trusted resource for conflict resolution. You will develop initiatives to combat burnout, manage workload sustainability, and ensure a healthy work-life integration.
* HR Operations & Compliance: Own the HR tech stack, manage payroll interface, oversee company policies (e.g., leave, securities trading, code of conduct), and ensure global compliance across Australian and US jurisdictions.
* Reward & Recognition: Review and refine our compensation and benefits strategy to ensure we remain competitive in the global biotech market while recognizing the extraordinary efforts of our team.
Qualifications and Experience
* 8+ years of HR experience, with at least 3 years in a senior or sole-charge capacity, ideally within the Biotech, Life Sciences, or a high-growth R&D environment.
* Change Management Expertise: Proven experience in evolving a company's culture and structure during a period of rapid scaling or international expansion.
* Empathetic Leadership: A demonstrated ability to build high-trust relationships across all levels of an organization, from junior lab technicians to the Board of Directors.
* Strategic & Hands-on: You are comfortable advising the CEO on long-term people strategy while also managing the granular details of HR administration.
* Australian Employment Law: Deep knowledge of the Fair Work Act and relevant awards, with a working understanding of US (specifically California) employment nuances being a plus.
* Share our passion: Highly proactive, with initiative and drive, and a genuine interest in biotechnology and the drug development lifecycle
