Primary objective
Manage the development and delivery of the routine maintenance program for roads and transport assets in the Barkly Region.
Provide contract administration and site supervision of civil maintenance activities and monitor contract performance. Provide
support to other areas in the civil section as required.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Assist with the investigation, development of the civil maintenance programs for roads and other transport assets in the region.
2. Assist the Project Manager to deliver assigned Minor Works, Repairs and Maintenance, and some Capital Works projects.
Undertake project site supervision role for a range of projects including capital works projects.
3. Undertake asset inspections and review and analyse asset inventory, condition and defect information.
4. Prepare project proposals, technical reports, and estimate of costs, contract and procurement documentation.
5. Provide contract administration and site supervision of civil maintenance activities to ensure that works comply with current
standards, codes and guidelines and all relevant documentation and evidence of works are obtained.
6. Monitor and report on performance of contractors including reporting of contract Key Performance Indicators.
7. Carry out all duties in accordance with Departmental WHS, EEO and environmental guidelines.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. A relevant qualification awarded by an Australian institution, or equivalent; or relevant experience in a field of technical work
closely related to the duties of the vacancy.
2. Good written and oral communications skills including the ability to prepare design, coordinate, assess and administer
procurement activity, and manage contractual arrangements.
3. Good knowledge of road and civil industry design, construction and maintenance techniques and practices including ability to
undertake site supervision of civil activities.
4. Well-developed information technology skills including word processing and spreadsheet software as well as project
management and design tools.
5. Good working knowledge of the requirements of the relevant legislationand policies, as applied in the NT as well as a range of
Australian Standards, Codes of Practice and associated Guidelines.
6. Current Driver's Licence.
Desirable
1. Certificate IV in Civil Construction Supervision and/or Government Procurement.
