About the OPPORTUNITY

We have an exciting opportunity for 2 Network Engineers to join our Central Functions Line of Business based at Melbourne and Adelaide.

We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as hybrid working.

As a key member of our team and reporting to the Network Engineering Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in keeping our corporate and project networks running smoothly, securely, and at peak performance. Your work will ensure fast, reliable, and secure communication across the entire organization, both on premise and cloud environments.

Key responsibilities include:

* Resolve assigned support incidents, including the analysis, design, implementation and test of solutions
* Communicate with stakeholders to provide efficient support and with vendors to resolve technical issues
* Provide input into the strategy and direction of Networking systems based on business needs
* Identify opportunities to enhance systems and processes, driving efficiency and technological innovation.
* Assist in specifying, designing and implementing aspects of the WAN and LAN networks that meet or exceed industry standard best practices
* Provide network consultancy and assistant to customers, in the design, set to work & troubleshooting of unclassified networks & customer deliverables
* Assist in ensuring that the network solutions and infrastructure meet the current performance, reliability, security & business requirements
* Assist in the pro-active monitoring and maintenance of all existing network infrastructure
* Contribute to and maintain detailed and clear documentation in the form of High and Low level designs, as-built, how-to knowledge base and troubleshooting articles
* Participate in the on-call roster providing out-of-hours support for key systems

About YOU

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience + vendor certifications) preferred
* Experience in designing, implementing and supporting Enterprise networking environments including LAN, WAN and DataCentre
* Experience designing, implementing and supporting Palo Alto Firewalls, F5 ADCs, Cisco LAN/WAN, Cisco Wireless, Cisco ISE
* Strong understanding of foundational technologies and ability to utilise to adapt to new systems
* Experience with security best practices and compliance standards
* Experience with the configuration and day-to-day operation of Cisco ACI (Application Centric Infrastructure) and SDN (Software Defined Networking) will be an advantage
* Ability to interact effectively with colleagues within and outside their immediate team, to implement business requirements
* Exceptional problem-solving capabilities, ability to use and adapt written and verbal communication skills to suit a variety of difference audiences is critical to this role
* Willingness to cross-skill with other technologies, for example SysAdmin (Windows/Linux), Database Administration, Applications
* Experience with Network Automation, including Ansible, Terraform and CI/CD pipelines will be an advantage
* Experience with cloud networking (Azure, AWS)
* Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain
* Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations
