Position Title:
SAFETY, TRAINING AND COMPLIANCE OFFICER
Position Purpose:
The purpose of the Safety, Training and Compliance Officer is:
to support business objectives by managing aspects of the employee lifecycle particularly safety, training and compliance together with rostering, payroll and onboarding functions;
to oversee, facilitate and advocate systems for Company adherence to maritime safety, human resource legal and/or regulatory requirements; and
to oversee compliance with health and safety obligations onsite, within Marine Towage and as it relates to the good conduct of business by Daltug generally.
Supervision:
Reports to General Manager.
Required Qualifications and Training:
Formal tertiary qualifications for Health and Safety Management and/or Human Resources Management highly desirable.
ICAM (Incident Cause Analysis Method) Investigation highly desirable
First Aid & CPR.
Valid First Aid & CPR certification must be held at the time of application.
Drug & Alcohol Testing Qualification (desirable)
Essential/Desirable Competencies:
· Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Safety/Training & Compliance for businesses.
A minimum of 3-4 years of demonstrated experience in Safety, Training & Compliance is required.
· Knowledge and experience in Investigation of Incidents & Accidents is highly desirable.
· Knowledge and experience in Human Resource Systems particularly rostering and payroll.
· Knowledge and experience in Drug & Alcohol Testing is desirable.

Major Responsibilities:
Duties and Responsibilities will include but not limited to:
· Maintain current working knowledge of compliance concerns and industry trends for All aspects of WHS and the General Safety Obligations in the Marine environment
· Ensure appropriate Safety Management Systems are developed and complied with
· Support, advocate and administer Safety Management System objectives within and across site (inc Vessels)
· Continuously improve safety on site and in the marine environment by developing effective safety strategies and supporting actions
· Ensure that accurate safety records and statistics are kept by developing and maintaining an efficient recording and reporting system
· Manage the review and quality control of the health, safety and environment plans
· Coordinate emergency response plans and applicable training as a key Port stakeholder
· Hazard identification and risk management audits, recording and reporting
· Ensure effective Accident/Incident Investigations are carried out by accurately collecting facts and details, preparing recommendations, actions and close outs
· Facilitate and coordinate Company inductions and all training programs and learning activities
· Management of medicals, rehabilitation and return to work obligations
· Drug and Alcohol testing and controls
· Records and Document control of relevance to the regulatory frameworks
· On call for shipping as per office roster
· Facilitating Berthing Services reporting to DBCT
· Roll out of safety toolboxes, safety communications and onsite practices
· Support to Manager and Maintenance Manager as required in the HR sphere
· Rostering and Payroll as required by Office Administrator
· Stores as required for onsite demand
· Reporting back to the manager and advice as required
Delegated authority:
· Appointed by the Manager & Board of Directors to perform the above responsibilities
