Compas is seeking a Senior IMS/COBOL Developer to join a Federal Government Department for a long-term engagement. The IMS COBOL Developer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining enterprise applications running on IBM mainframe environments using COBOL in conjunction with IMS (Information Management System).
* Initial contract till June 2027 + extensions
* NV1 Clearance or the ability to obtain one quickly
* QLD, ACT, VIC, SA
Key Duties and Responsibilities
* Write, modify, and optimize COBOL programs integrated with IMS databases and transaction management.
* Collaborate with business analysts to translate requirements into technical specifications.
* Conduct unit, integration, and regression testing to ensure system reliability.
* Support data migration project and subsequently application code transformation
* Develop long term plans for technical directions and manage work in the context of business priorities
Desired Skills and Experience
* Proficiency in COBOL, IMS DB/DC, JCL, and mainframe utilities.
* Experience overseeing software development projects
