We are seeking a Trainee Conservation Professional to join our team in the Kimberley Region.
Job Description
The Kimberley Region is a unique and complex landscape that offers many opportunities to explore and enjoy its natural beauty and cultural significance.
This position provides a chance for a motivated individual to participate in conservation, parks, and wildlife work within the department, including prescribed burning, bushfire suppression and control, fauna and flora protection, construction and maintenance of infrastructure, support of tourism and recreational activities, and operation of associated machinery.
As a Trainee Conservation Professional, you will work under the immediate direction of an Operations Officer (Mentor) and participate in various activities related to conservation and recreation management. You will also have the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in a range of areas, including manual activities, equipment operation, and teamwork.
This role offers development opportunities for Aboriginal people with preference given to Yawuru Community members or approved Yawuru applicants.

Selection Criteria
To be successful in this role, you will need to address the following four criteria:
* Aboriginality is a genuine requirement for this position, with preference given to Yawuru community members or approved Yawuru applicants.
* You will need experience or interest in working on country and ability to participate in manual activities related to conservation and recreation management.
* You must be able to liaise and interact in a positive manner, have good communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to work effectively in a team.
* Experience in operating equipment such as chainsaws, brush cutters, and common maintenance tools is desirable.
