About this role
Lead the development and implementation of robust clinical governance and risk management frameworks to drive continuous improvement, ensure compliance with the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards, and foster a culture of safety and accountability across the hospital.
Governance & Strategic Oversight
Key responsibilities
* Chair Standard Committee meetings; lead facilitation, drive consensus, and oversee implementation of agreed actions.
* Participate in Quality Manager meetings; engage cross‑departmentally to align strategies and support consistent quality outcomes.
* Govern clinical and operational policies; oversee development, review and implementation to ensure regulatory alignment and industry best practice.
* Lead patient experience initiatives; collaborate with managers to respond to concerns, build trust and deliver measurable improvements.
Risk Management & Analysis
Key responsibilities
* Lead Incident Investigation & Reporting; conduct comprehensive investigations of clinical and operational incidents, lead Serious Adverse Event Reviews and develop actionable recommendations.
* Conduct Hospital Rounding & Spot Audits; identify gaps, assess compliance and elevate high‑risk issues.
* Analyse Hospital‑Acquired Complications data; identify trends, evaluate factors and collaborate to implement evidence‑based interventions.
* Oversee Critical System Reviews; analyse findings to inform risk‑mitigation strategies.
* Participate in Safety Huddles; contribute to real‑time risk identification and collaborative problem‑solving.
Compliance & Regulatory Response
Ensure the facility meets all regulatory and accreditation requirements.
* Standard Compliance Monitoring; maintain alignment with NSQHS and internal benchmarks.
* Data Reporting for M&M Meetings; provide analytical insights for clinical governance.
* HCCC Response Coordination; manage timely responses to complaints and investigations.
* Patient Feedback Analysis; translate consumer insights into quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential criteria
* Current registration with AHPRA.
* Tertiary qualifications in health, clinical governance, quality or risk management.
* Demonstrated experience in healthcare quality and risk leadership.
* Strong knowledge of NSQHS Standards, accreditation and regulatory frameworks.
* Advanced skills in data analysis, incident review and stakeholder engagement.
Desirable criteria
* Familiarity with Healthscope systems and processes.
