* Part-Time Contract, 19 hours Per Week, Up to 3 Years
The successful applicant will be appointed in the position appropriate to their skills, qualifications, and experience.
About the Role: Reporting to the Head of Unit, this role involves teaching registrars, junior medical officers, and medical students. The position also requires involvement in research and audit work as required, attending weekly unit meetings, and participating in weekly tutorials as part of the general surgical training program.
* Provide high-quality clinical service under the direction of the Director of General Surgery and Specific General Surgery, Heads of Unit,
* Providing appropriate clinical care to patients and coordinating follow-up for review under the care of the unit or referred to the unit (ensuring timely review and management of patients referred by the Emergency Department),
* Participate in and be involved in a wide variety of elective and emergency surgical cases. All cases require consultant involvement prior to surgery occurring,
* Daily registrar ward-rounds Monday to Friday (weekend ward rounds rotated between the registrar or other senior member of the team)
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent, Registered with the Medical Board of Australian as a medical Practitioner (AHPRA),
* Broad clinical experience and competence in the practice of General Surgery,
* Experience in clinical education and accreditation activities,
* Competence in surgical procedures appropriate to general surgery,
* RACS Fellow (desirable) with colorectal interest and GESA accredited for colonoscopies
Benefits: This is a single vacancy, with two possible appointment classifications. Rotations following the initial 12-month allocation as Advanced Trainee will be determined in line with your training and SA Health's requirements. This may include transfer to other SA Health locations to perform work appropriate to classification, skills, and capabilities.
