Professional Services Public Sector Presales Cloud Architect, AWS Professional Services ANZ
Amazon Web Services Australia Pty Ltd is looking for an experienced ProServe Cloud Architect (PCA) to join our team in Canberra, working with Public Sector customers to understand their technical requirements and business objectives, design and implement tailored cloud solutions, and play a key role in the pre‐sales process.
In this role, you will be responsible for creating and leading the solution design to address customer business outcomes (CBO). You will act as the conduit between ProServe Account Executives and ProServe Delivery Teams, ensuring proposed solutions are realistic, achievable, and optimize ProServe and/or partners to maximize customer business outcomes. As a PCA you will be a trusted advisor to customers, providing guidance on industry trends, emerging technologies, and innovative solutions to address customer challenges. You will also share knowledge within the organization through mentoring, training, reusable artifacts, and process improvements. In a rapidly evolving area, hands‐on technical engagement with customers around Agentic AI and Generative AI (GenAI) will be a critical aspect of this role.
Your experience designing technical solutions within the technology/consulting sector equips you to architect complex, scalable, and secure cloud solutions tailored to each customer, translating technical concepts into business value. Your success as a PCA will be linked to impacting sales and the successful implementation of customer solutions.

We collaborate with customer teams, the AWS Partner Network, and global specialty practices to design, build, optimize, transform, and migrate applications, software, and services to the AWS platform, delivering measurable business outcomes.

Key Job Responsibilities
* Act as a trusted advisor to customers on industry trends and emerging technologies.
* Provide technical guidance and best practices during pre‐sales and implementation phases.
* Define and develop the overall strategic direction for AWS customers and internal AWS teams to deliver customer business outcomes.
* Partner with AWS Account teams and ProServe Account Executives and Delivery teams to accelerate innovation, account strategy, and technical execution, aligning to increase business value through cloud adoption.
* Engage with C‐level executives to guide their strategic technology initiatives and support their data transformation journeys.
* Build deep relationships with senior technical individuals within customer organizations to enable them to become cloud advocates.
* Work directly with customers to understand problem statements and use cases in the Agentic AI and GenAI domains.
* Develop proof‐of‐concept solutions that align with customer objectives in the Agentic AI and GenAI space.
* Drive development of outcome‐based business‐IT solution proposals in collaboration with sales and solution architecture teams.
* Act as the AWS executive technical sponsor for strategic customer initiatives, ensuring alignment with AWS Global Service offerings and customer goals.
* Ensure solutions across strategic programs adhere to AWS's enterprise architecture and security best practices.
* Capture and share best‐practice knowledge, sales, and delivery content among the AWS Professional Services community.
Basic Qualifications
* 7+ years of technical specialist, design and architecture experience.
* 3+ years of cloud‐based solution experience (AWS or equivalent), including system, network and operating system experience.
* Experience in technical leadership of development, testing, and implementation of large‐scale, complex technology projects.
* Experience in influencing C‐level leadership, business and technical stakeholders, and peer groups, while driving enterprise‐scale portfolios or programs in large organizations.
* Prior experience working with public sector customers, preferably in the Natsec, Federal and Defence sector.
Preferred Qualifications
* Advanced technology degree or AWS Professional‐level certifications (e.g., Solutions Architect Professional, DevOps Engineer Professional).
* Deep understanding of AWS services across compute, storage, networking, security, databases, machine learning, and serverless technologies.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non‐technical audiences as part of pre‐sales motion.
* Proven experience with software development life cycle (SDLC) and agile/iterative methodologies, including modern certifications such as AWS, Agile, Scrum, SAFe, etc.
