Type : Full-Time Term : Ongoing Position Details First Nations Education Assistant St John's School in Rangeway, Geraldton, is a single stream, co-educational primary school educating students from Kindergarten to Year Six.

Early intervention, diverse specialist learning areas and an Enrichment Program are some of the initiatives embedded at St John's School.
We are currently seeking a First Nations Education Assistant to join our team of committed educators in ****.
This is a full time position, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:00pm daily.
The successful candidate will be asked to:
• Support Aboriginal students as required.

• Support the integration of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures Cross-Curriculum Priority.

• Engage and connect with parents and community.

• Work with classroom teachers in the school learning environment.
Selection Criteria We are seeking a suitably qualified and enthusiastic First Nations Education Assistant who has the necessary knowledge, skills, ability and professional desire to:
• be prepared to support the Catholic ethos in the performance of their duties.

• support the teacher in the delivery of teaching and learning programs, including individual and small group sessions.

• provide First Nations cultural advice as required.

• provide student pastoral care support.

• liaise with and support parents and carers.

• engage and connect with key stakeholders in the community.

• work flexibly with others, independently and in a team.

• demonstrate sound written and oral communication skills.

• competently use of ICT.

• a willingness to be actively involved in and supportive of all school events and initiatives.
Qualifications Required Applicants must:
• Aboriginality is considered a genuine occupational qualification for this role as per Section 50D Equal Opportunity Act **** (WA).

• be willing to work towards gaining Accreditation to Work in a Catholic School, if not already acquired.

• have experience in working with children.

• minimum Certificate III or Certificate IV in Children's Services or Education Assistant qualification or equivalent would be desirable but not essential.
