Overview

Part‐time contract (0.6 FTE – 0.8 FTE), 12‐month contract, identified position at the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI). The Senior Project Officer will implement the newly developed Gumnut Babies Program (pilot), deliver it across two sites, and support the subsequent evaluation.

Responsibilities
* Coordinate day‐to‐day operations of the Gumnut Babies Program, including scheduling, venues and logistics.
* Build strong relationships with Aboriginal mothers, families and nominated support people throughout the program.
* Partner with local Aboriginal organisations and Aboriginal Family Birthing Programs to support recruitment and delivery.
* Coordinate cultural and program supports such as Elders, and maintain an Aboriginal Governance Group.
* Manage program administration, resources and participant supports (materials, catering, transport).
* Collect program data (questionnaires/yarning) and support evaluation activities and reporting.
* Promote ACRA programs and strengthen service partnerships to support ongoing growth.
* Provide backup support to maintain program continuity during staff absences.
* Monitor service quality and outcomes, maintaining quality‐control processes.
About You
* Qualifications or training in psychology, counselling, narrative therapy (or similar) and experience facilitating groups.
* Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and communities.
* Trauma‐informed, culturally safe practice using a strengths‐based, holistic approach.
* Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills (families, community, governance groups, partners).
* Strong written skills (reports/presentations) and confidence collecting data (questionnaires and yarning).
* Desirable: understanding of the Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) Framework and perinatal/infant/maternal mental health.
Special Requirements
* Identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.
* Some out‐of‐hours work may be required.
* DCSI Employment Screening and Police Checks are required.
* Some regional and local travel will be required.
* SAHMRI is required to implement the Addressing vaccine‐preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy for SAHMRI employees carrying out work in any SA Health Facility. Immunisation risk for this position is Category C.
