Tasks & responsibilities
As a chef at Paddock Bakery, you'll be working in a rapid-paced, hands-on environment focused on delivering high-quality food across breakfast, brunch, lunch, and takeaway services.
You'll take ownership of planning and executing seasonal menus that reflect modern Australian flavours. This includes rotating brunch dishes, toasties, and bakery items to keep the offering fresh and appealing.
Your role will involve preparing and presenting dishes to a consistently high standard. Key items include dippy eggs, lemon berry porridge, cream cheese bagels, and lamb korma pies. Each dish should be visually appealing and suited to casual dine-in or takeaway service.
Expect to use bakery and brunch techniques to deliver flavour and texture. Woodfired ovens are used for sourdoughs and bagels, and standard kitchen equipment supports consistent execution across all dishes.
You'll be responsible for sourcing and handling fresh produce, with a focus on ingredients from the Geelong region. This includes maintaining relationships with local suppliers and ensuring seasonal ingredients are used wherever possible.
Maintaining food quality and portion control across all shifts will be a key part of your role. Whether it's a plated brunch dish or a takeaway toastie, every item should meet the bakery's standards.
You'll work closely with front-of-house staff, baristas, and bartenders to ensure smooth service. The kitchen supports a variety of dining styles, from breakfast rushes to relaxed brunches and quick lunch orders.
Part of your responsibility will be managing hygiene and food safety in a high-volume environment. The venue serves up to 150 dine-in guests per service, with large numbers of takeaway orders. Organisation and prep are key to keeping things running efficiently.
You'll also be expected to train and supervise kitchen staff in prep, cooking, portioning, and presentation. The team culture is collaborative and fast-paced, with a strong focus on quality and consistency.
Please provide a Cover Letter explaining why you're applying for the role.
