About the role
We are seeking a Senior Consultant, to join our highly skilled specialist tax team, who provide tax advice to public, private and multinational companies across many diverse sectors. This role has a particular focus on funds management, however you will also get the opportunity to work across private and multinational companies.
Working closely with the Partners and Managers of the division, you will be responsible for delivering a high level of service and present complex tax advice to clients and staff.
You will take full responsibility and ownership of allocated jobs and manage your own workflow under the direction of your manager. This involves planning, delegating, and reviewing work, and passing on completed assignments to your manager for review. You will also develop relationships with clients and deal with their queries and assist Managers in helping to lead a team of staff.
Key Responsibilities
* Liaise with clients on a day-to-day basis, providing a quality and timely service
* Prepare and present accurate and timely complex taxation returns and workpapers
* Undertake tax planning for clients and identify and resolve tax issues
* Update and review electronic and paper taxation publications to the standard required by the Firm
* Prepare client correspondence
* Research and draft taxation advice with limited supervision
* Review the taxation implications of prospectuses and undertake due diligence and other special work
* Identify and develop existing and potential business opportunities
* Develop an area of expertise recognised throughout the Firm
* Delegate, oversee and review compliance work of junior staff
* Provide input to Managers/Partners on staff issues and status of client obligations, issues and work
* Present to the Taxation Group and the wider firm on relevant areas of tax reform
* Assist with potential and new client opportunities or initiatives
* Administrative matters such as maintenance of electronic timesheets, preparation of bills, managing WIPs, interviewing prospective candidates, training, committee membership, marketing, etc
Skills and experience
* A minimum of 2 years' experience working in a Tax environment in a Chartered/CPA accounting practice
* Degree qualified and near to qualifying or fully qualified as a CA/CPA/Master of Tax
* Technically proficient and up to date with developments in taxation law
* Solid understanding of various tax resources
* Experience dealing with corporate tax and private client groups
* Funds management experience will be highly regarded
* Ability to review the work of junior members of staff and identify any issues and opportunities
* Prior experience working with and developing good relationships with clients
* Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines for a large group of clients
* Ability to mentor and coach junior members of staff
* Present professionally and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Prior experience working with APS, Solution 6 and be competent in Microsoft Office applications
