We’re looking for a Sous Chef to be part of an exciting recent venture as we relaunch one of Collingwood’s most iconic Mexican restaurants. 
About Us 
We’ve recently taken over an established venue and are relaunching it as a Mexico City style taqueria - a simple but well-executed menu, with everything made fresh in house. 
Our first restaurant, Mission District, a Californian Mexican in Ripponlea, has been open for 4 years and our head chef and sous chef have both been with us for 3 years, and most of the kitchen team for 1-2 years. We’re proud of the healthy and respectful working culture we’ve built there, and we’re working to foster the same culture at our new restaurant. 
We prioritise organisation, communication and solving problems quickly so that everyone's jobs are smoother and easier. 
About the Role 
- Full time position — $80,000 with a bonus structure in place 
- Support the Head Chef in the day to day running of the kitchen 
- Manage and motivate the team, run service, and ensure consistent quality 
- Handle ordering, stock control, and assist in meeting key targets (COGS, wages, reviews etc.) 
- Assist with menu development and seasonal specials 
- Ensure food safety and hygiene standards are upheld 
- Be a positive influence in creating a supportive, respectful kitchen culture 
About You 
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef or Senior CDP in a fast-paced kitchen 
- Organised, reliable, and confident in leading a team during service 
- Strong understanding of stock management and food cost control 
- Creative input and a passion for simple, high-quality food 
- Positive attitude, good communication skills, and a collaborative mindset 
- Experience with Mexican food is a bonus, but not essential
