HOPE Community Services has been supporting Western Australians for over 120 years, delivering services across alcohol and other drugs, mental health, justice, and family and domestic violence. We are committed to building safe, respectful, and empowered communities.

Our Mara Pirni Healing Place in Kalgoorlie provides culturally safe, trauma-informed support to women, children, and families impacted by Family and Domestic Violence (FDV). We work collaboratively across the Goldfields North Region to strengthen families and promote safer communities.

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Trainee Family Support Worker to join our Family and Domestic Violence team.

This role provides evidence-based support to families with complex needs, helping to strengthen parenting capacity, reduce the impact of trauma, and improve safety and wellbeing for children. You will work directly with families, co-manage cases alongside Safety Advocates, and contribute to group programs and community initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

* Manage a caseload of families in collaboration with a Safety Advocate
* Deliver strengths-based, evidence-informed family support
* Facilitate evidence-based group programs (e.g., Protective Behaviours, Circle of Security)
* Build partnerships with local services to ensure coordinated support
* Maintain accurate case notes, reports, and data records
* Participate in supervision, training, and community activities

* $88,090.08 per annum + regional allowance + super
* $15,900 per annum salary packaging
* Full-time Fixed Term until 30 June 2026 with potential extension

You'll Need

* Progressing toward a relevant qualification in Community Services (minimum Certificate III) or willingness to undertake formal study
* Strong alignment with HOPE's values
* Excellent communication and organisational skills
* Ability to build effective relationships with families and service providers
* Intermediate computer literacy and data entry skills
* Ability to work independently and within a team
* Experience working with vulnerable children, young people, and families
* Understanding of child abuse, neglect, and trauma-informed practice
* Commitment to reflective practice
* Current C or A Class Driver's Licence
* Working With Children Card
* National Police Clearance (within 3 months)
* Department of Justice Clearance – can take up to 6 weeks
