Capecare is a not-for-profit organisation that has proudly provided aged care services in the Capes Region for over 60 years. We are currently seeking experienced and capable Catering Assistants & Kitchenhands, both Permanent Part-Time & Casual, to join our dedicated teams in Busselton and Dunsborough.
About the Role: The Catering Assistant and Kitchenhands play a vital role in supporting the well-being of our elderly residents by contributing to their dining experiences. They help create a welcoming atmosphere during mealtimes and work to ensure residents receive nourishing and enjoyable meals tailored to their individual needs. The ideal candidates will demonstrate a commitment to high standards of work while providing considerate, person-centred care to our residents. Our shift times are: Monday to Sunday: 7am - 1:30pm and 4pm - 7pm.
Responsibilities
* Meal Preparation: Assist in the preparation of meals, which may include chopping vegetables, assembling salads, portioning food, and preparing simple dishes under the supervision of the Cook or Chef. (Kitchenhand only).
* Serving Meals: Help in serving meals to residents during mealtimes, ensuring that each resident receives the appropriate meal according to their dietary requirements.
* Dining Room Setup: Set up the dining areas before mealtimes, ensuring tables are clean, and all necessary items like cutlery, plates, and glasses are in place.
* Dishwashing and Cleaning: Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment, and maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen and dining area. They may also help with cleaning kitchen surfaces and storage areas.
* Resident Interaction: Interact with residents in a friendly and courteous manner during mealtimes, addressing their needs and requests as appropriate.

The Ideal Candidates Will Have
* Experience in Hospitality, Aged Care, Customer Service or Hospital environment and/or related field ideal.
* Food Handling Certificate is desirable but not essential.
* Experience with specific dietary needs (desirable).
* Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team within a fast-paced environment.
* A genuine passion for providing quality care to older Australians.
* Full working rights in Australia.
