The Principal Automation Engineer role requires a professional with extensive experience in automation design, substation and renewables engineering principles.
You will lead the development of automation design standards, procedures and templates to improve efficiency and quality of output. Work collaboratively with engineers to mitigate delivery risks, maintain relationships with other discipline leads, delivery teams and external resources.
This role is office-based, focusing on design tasks, but may require site involvement and hands-on experience during key project stages. Travel between offices to interface with interstate team members.
Providing technical advice, you will make sound decisions based on commercial, contractual requirements and work with internal stakeholders.
You should have detailed knowledge of configuration of automation equipment (PLCs, RTUs, HMIs, SCADA, networking equipment), as well as solid fundamentals in cyber security.

About the Ideal Candidate:
* Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or relevant control systems degree
* Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) qualification
* Demonstrated experience in either design leadership or management roles
* Proven experience delivering designs for major transmission utilities in NSW or SA
