Overview
Join Ward 6D at Launceston General Hospital as a Registered Nurse, delivering safe, holistic care in collaboration with a dedicated multidisciplinary team.
The Team: Ward 6D is a 32-bed acute medical and stroke unit where the team provides quality and safe care and work within the CARE values of the organisation. Our staffing ratio is generally 4:1 with an indirect Stroke CNC 7 days a week, and weekdays, a CNE and NUM. The ANUM does not have a patient load on early and late shifts allowing them to efficiently manage each shift. A clinical support nurse supports the team on early shifts and assists with access and flow. We pride ourselves on being a supportive, dedicated, respectful, and kind team where quality and safety is at the centre of our patient care.
The Role:

- Monitor and manage patients' vital signs, neurological status, and overall health.
- Administer medications, treatments, and therapies safely and in accordance with clinical guidelines.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams including doctors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and speech therapists.
- Provide education and emotional support to patients and their families.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records, including care plans and observation charts.
- Respond promptly to emergencies and deteriorations, initiating appropriate interventions.
- Contribute to ongoing professional development and training within the team.
You will need:
- A solid understanding of acute medical conditions and stroke care management.
- Strong collaboration with all members of the multidisciplinary team to deliver holistic care.
- Strong clinical assessment skills to accurately monitor patient conditions and identify signs of deterioration in an acute care setting.
