About The Role And Team
We have an opportunity for an experienced Catering Assistant to join our Operations team in our Melbourne office on a casual basis. We're looking for someone who can commit to working at least 2–3 days each week.
In this role you will provide excellent service for client and employee meetings and functions in a friendly, professional manner. Ensuring that all meetings and functions are catered for appropriately and that the client area, breakout spaces and kitchens are always kept clean and tidy.
The Catering team forms part of Office Services which includes Front of House (Reception), Service Hub (mailroom) and Switchboard.
You will be responsible for:
* Coordinate all catering operations for the Melbourne office, including liaising with internal teams and managing the Catering inbox.
* Assist Front of House with refreshments for meetings and ensure meeting rooms are serviced and reset promptly.
* Set up and serve catering for client and firm events, ensuring compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
* Maintain kitchens and breakout areas: restock supplies, manage stock rotation, order groceries, and keep spaces presentable.
* Manage catering logistics: quotes, menu finalisation, supplier reviews, cost control, and invoice processing.
* Organise external and off-site functions in conjunction with the Events team, including booking and supervising external staff.
* Maintain beverage stock and oversee quality standards for catering suppliers.
* Provide reception/switchboard cover and support ad hoc duties as required.
* Build and maintain strong internal and external relationships.
About You
You will ideally have the following skills and experience:
* hospitality qualification or minimum level 1 Food & Safety Handler certificate and a responsible Service of Alcohol certificate;
* minimum 3 years' experience in a similar position, preferably in a corporate environment;
* solid understanding of food safety hygiene and an interest in and flair for catering;
* experience with organising corporate functions setups including breakfasts, morning teas, lunches, boardroom lunches, afternoon teas, evening functions, and cocktail functions etc;
* ability to negotiate on prices for catering and suppliers;
* excellent organisational skills and the ability to plan and prioritise effectively meeting tight deadlines;
* exceptional communication skills and customer service skills with ability to interact with all business levels;
* ability to work under pressure and problem solve;
* strong attention to detail and able to show initiative; and
* experience using Microsoft Outlook.
