Hay Shire Council is offering a rare and exciting opportunity for an undergraduate student to join our Finance Team as a Cadet Accountant. This position is designed to support you in completing your Accounting or Business degree while gaining valuable, hands-on experience across all areas of finance, including operational, management, and asset accounting.
You will be mentored by experienced senior accounting staff, with a tailored training plan that complements your university studies. This cadetship offers you the best of both worlds—structured industry experience and financial support while you complete your degree.
Position Details
Title: Cadet Accountant / Finance
Contract: 2–4 year fixed term (depending on study stage), with the possibility of ongoing employment upon graduation and satisfactory performance
Hours of Work: 21 hours / 3 days per week (8:30am – 4:30pm), with full-time hours (35 hours) during semester breaks
Study Leave: 14 hours / 2 days per week (during university semesters only)
Education Support: Up to $5,000 per annum towards course costs (subject to satisfactory academic progress)
Eligibility: Currently enrolled or eligible to enrol in a relevant Accounting or Business degree
Minimum of 2 years remaining in your course of study
