Position Overview
The Café Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the café, ensuring exceptional customer service, maintaining high product quality, and leading a motivated team. This role requires strong leadership, organisation, and a passion for hospitality and healthy food.
The Café Manager ensures the café runs efficiently, staff are supported, and customers have an outstanding experience every time they visit.
Key Responsibilities
1. Daily Operations
* Oversee the daily operation of the café during opening, service, and closing.
* Ensure the café is clean, organised, and operating smoothly.
* Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and presentation.
* Manage cash handling, POS systems, and end-of-day reconciliation.
* Ensure all equipment is operating correctly and report maintenance issues.
2. Team Leadership & Staff Management
* Supervise and support café staff during shifts.
* Train new employees in café procedures, customer service, and product knowledge.
* Create staff rosters and manage shift coverage.
* Provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback.
* Foster a positive, energetic team culture.
3. Customer Experience
* Deliver outstanding customer service and ensure staff do the same.
* Resolve customer complaints professionally and quickly.
* Build relationships with regular customers.
* Maintain a welcoming and friendly café environment.
4. Product Quality
* Ensure smoothies, juices, coffee, and food are prepared consistently to standard.
* Monitor ingredient freshness and presentation.
* Work with the owner to maintain and improve the menu.
5. Inventory & Ordering
* Monitor stock levels of ingredients, packaging, and supplies.
* Place orders with suppliers and manage deliveries.
* Reduce waste and control costs through proper inventory management.
6. Sales & Business Performance
* Support initiatives that increase sales and customer traffic.
* Monitor daily sales performance and labour costs.
* Help promotions, social media campaigns, and new product launches run smoothly.
