Walz is currently seeking a HSE Advisor with experience in the construction or resources industries to join our Gladstone HSE Team.

About the role:
The role is based in Gladstone supporting our local operations around town. We are offering a long-term role for an individual interested in dynamic construction work around Gladstone and central Queensland.
This role reports directly to the business HSE Manager and works closely with our local projects and operations in Gladstone. You will be responsible for influencing and supporting safe work outcomes across our diverse Gladstone workplaces.
In this role you may be deployed to a specific site to support safe outcomes for the duration of a project, or you may otherwise routinely travel between local worksites performing periodic site visits as needs require. Our common work sites include a number of resource handling and processing facilities around Gladstone, as well as our own local manufacturing, surface coatings, and equipment maintenance operations in the centre of Gladstone.
Travel and living away from home arrangements may be required from time to time for projects outside of Gladstone. Rosters and living away from home requirements are determined with work/life balance in mind.
You will work alongside and receive the support of a number of experienced HSE practitioners, the HSE Manager, and our Gladstone Operations Management Team who have the safety of our people as their foremost priority in the work we do.
You will be responsible for:
· Monitoring compliance with Walz Group and client HSE policies, procedures, and management systems
· Collaborating with work groups to develop HSE risk management strategies
· Providing guidance and advice on legislative and standards requirements
· Facilitating project risk assessments for specific work scopes or operations
· Assisting in the identification and implementation of best practice standards and solutions
· Undertaking workplace inspections, safety interactions, periodic audits, and providing recommendations for improvements where required
· Participating in the development and review of SWMS/JHA from time to time
· Performing incident investigation, including data collection and preparing detailed reports with findings and recommendations
· Delivering HSE presentations and toolbox talks from time to time
· Assisting in the preparation of project-specific HSE planning materials from time to time
· Generally providing expert guidance and advice on the management of risk, hazards, and the prevention of incidents and injuries
About You:
· Experience working in Safety/HSE practitioner roles in the construction and/or resources industries
· Cert IV Health and Safety (minimum)
· Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (beneficial)
· Lead ICAM certified (beneficial)
· Experience with Rehabilitation and Return to Work coordination (beneficial)
· Demonstrable knowledge and application of relevant WH&S legislation
