Rare opportunity for a biomedical engineer, biomedical science, neuroscience, or other applied science graduate to launch their career in the Medtech industry. You will work specifically in intraoperative neuromonitoring (IONM). Work side-by-side with a highly respected neurophysiologist, supporting a range of neurosurgical and spine procedures across Sydney and NSW. THE COMPANY:
Our client is a rapidly growing specialist provider of intraoperative neuromonitoring (IONM) services, currently expanding their operations across Sydney and NSW, with plans for national growth in the future.
THE ROLE:
This newly created Neurophysiologist / Clinical Expert position offers a rare chance to work directly with the founder, a highly respected clinical neurophysiologist, known for delivering highly reliable neuromonitoring services across diverse neurosurgical specialties. You will support simple to complex procedures, including spine, peripheral nerve, and CNS surgeries, within the fast-paced, ever-changing operating theatre environment. This role suits a calm, confident clinician who thrives under pressure, adapts quickly, and contributes to critical intraoperative decisions impacting patient outcomes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Deliver high-quality, real-time intraoperative neuromonitoring during simple to complex neurosurgical procedures
* Apply and interpret multiple neurophysiological modalities including SSEP, MEP, EMG, EEG, and nerve conduction studies
* Collaborate and support in-theatre procedures with surgeons, anaesthetists, and theatre staff to guide and direct intraoperative decisions
* Perform pre-operative equipment setup and ensure continuous functionality and data integrity during procedures
* Maintain clear and timely clinical documentation and records in accordance with clinical governance standards
* Respond quickly and effectively in high-pressure surgical environments, contributing critical insights when it matters most
* Support service development and continuous improvement alongside the founder, playing a hands-on role in shaping the future of the business
* Regular travel to regional hospitals across NSW to support surgical teams and extend service coverage as the business continues to grow.
ABOUT YOU:
* Calm and resilient under pressure; remains composed and follows direction in high-stress surgical situations
* A background in biomedical engineering, biomedical science or neuroscience is highly regarded
* Strong understanding of human anatomy essential
* Strong communication skills and the ability to quickly absorb complex clinical and technical information and convey to a broad audience
* Willingness to work flexibly, including regular hours outside standard business (theatre and case dependent)
* Availability to travel as required
* A self-motivated mindset and a passion for improving patient outcomes
* Must hold a valid Australian Driver’s License
